Group Therapy for Children & Adolescents

Porter-Starke Services offers outpatient therapeutic groups facilitated by licensed therapists. Current groups are listed here. Please note that availability may depend upon community demand, time of year, and space limitations. Please call (219) 531-3500 for more information. 

Children's Groups

Pre-K to K Group
For children ages 5 to 7 struggling with social skills, behavior challenges, attention and focus, difficult emotions, and major life changes. Through group activities, participants develop character, coping skills, and healthy self-esteem.

For Kids Only 
For children ages 7 to 10 struggling with social skills, behavior challenges, attention and focus, difficult emotions, and major life changes. Through group activities, participants develop character, coping skills, and healthy self-esteem.

Coping Skills Enhancement
For children ages 7 to 11 who might benefit from extra resources to help manage daily routines, emotions (like anger), peer interactions, and the challenges of daily life. Together the group learns, processes and practices how to cope in healthy ways.

Inside Out  
For children ages 10 to 13 struggling with social skills, behavior challenges, attention and focus, difficult emotions, and major life changes. Through group activities, participants develop character, coping skills, and healthy self-esteem.

Adolescent Groups

It's a Girl Thang!
Girls ages 13 to 18 explore life through weekly topics, discussions, and activities with other teens. As a group, practice healthy self-expression in a safe environment, learn to feel empowered in everyday life, and develop a positive identity.

The Boys Group
Boys ages 14 to 18 explore life’s adventures through weekly discussion and activities with other teens. As a group, learn healthy self-expression, develop positive self-esteem, and grow personal identity.

Tuesday Teens  
For teens ages 15 to 20 with limited social skills, pervasive developmental disorders, or other challenges coping with emotions and behavior. As a group, learn to process and practice coping in healthy ways and how to interact with other people of all ages.
